Camp Farwell
Founded in 1889 by Julia Farwell and now owned and operated by the Hanson Family for over 40 years, we are experts in the world or camping.
Farwell is the traditional camp for the modern family and we are continuously working to create a diverse community for both our campers and staff. Our non-competitive philosophy is ideal in helping our girls develop their self-confidence, positive self-concept and in creating friends from around the world. We have a low camper to staff ratio of 2.5:1, which is perfect for not only the first time camper, but more experienced ones as well. We have a cozy community where every camper is known by name!

We pride ourselves on hiring staff who are kind. This is one of the most important aspects of our hiring process, as well as hiring specialists in each one of our activity areas. We actively choose to hire staff from around the world, creating a uniquely diverse community in our camp bubble, to give our campers a more enriching and culturally diverse experience during their time with us. Our staff are trained to a very high standard, and we are proud to see them return year after year.
We also run a highly successful C.I.T or “Camper In Training” program for our young women who wish to become young leaders. Our C.I.T program lasts 3 years, during which, our girls learn the importance of responsibility by taking on a larger role at camp. C.I.T’s have extended privileges at camp in return for working with us, as well as trips we plan especially for them, designed to promote active teamwork and leadership skills. When CIT’s complete our training course, they can become fully fledged counsellors at Farwell.
We offer a completely elective activity program with over 25 different activities to choose from each week. These include Horseback Riding, Vaulting, Film-making, Swimming, Gymnastics, Cooking, Singing, Dance and Performing arts to name just a few! We even have our own Petting Zoo filled with animals that our campers love. Our location is nestled 'neath the green pines of Halls Lake in beautiful Vermont. We are the only summer camp on the lake, which allows us a great deal of privacy and security, which is paramount for our campers and staff.
We welcome campers between the ages of 6-17, and offer sessions lasting between 1 and 7 weeks. Custom sessions are also available to better suit your daughter’s needs. We also offer a fun-filled Rookie Week to give a taste of camping to girls who may not have been away from home before.
At Camp Farwell, we bring the best out of our girls and help them to shine!
